Day 1.
Arrival
and transfer by air-conditioned mini bus to the Yanna. Welcome drinks
and allocation of cabins.
We set sail towards the meeting of the
rivers, sailing past the city with views of the historical buildings, the
municipal market, the floating port, the buildings both floating and on
stilts.
Upon reaching the “Meeting of the Waters”
of the Rivers Negro and Solimões, a spectacle of extraordinary beauty,
you will observe as the dark waters of the Rio Negro remain separate and
distinct from the muddy waters of those of the Solimões. Eventually
the muddy waters overcome the clear, dark waters and the resulting river
is called the River Amazon.
We sail back up the Rio Negro to the “Janauary”
Park where you will be taken by motorised launch to explore the Igarapes
(narrow, natural canals) and Igapos (flooded forest) (depending on the
height of the river). You will visit a floating market selling regional
handicrafts, before returning to the Yanna to continue our journey towards
a place called “Jacareúbal” where we will anchor for the night.
Day 2.
Day
breaks in Jacareubal to the extraordinary sound of the Amazonian “dawn
chorus”. After breakfast it is time for the next excursion. This time the
outboards will drop you off at a place called “Jaraqui” where you will
go for a hike in the forest, accompanied by a local Indian guide who will
show you how to make the forest your ally and defend yourself against any
possible surprises.
Following a refreshing and envigorating
swim in the limpid waters of the river, you will proceed by launch to an
area called “Terra Preta” where Indians of several tribes including the
Baniwa, Nhengatú, Sateré and a few Tukanos have been peacefully
co-habiting for many years.
After visiting the Indians, it is back
into the boats to visit the “Arquipélago das Anavilhanas”. The archipelago
is made up of 380 islands and is a place of outstanding beauty. After
a trip around the islands you can enjoy some Piranha fishing. After
lunch it is time to observe a colony of Jacarés (Alligators) and
other notable creatures particular to the archipelago. The second
night will be spent in the same location.
Day 3.
A 5:00am excursion will take you to observe
the spectacular sunrise against a background of the “dawn chorus” from
among the islands (weather conditions permitting).
After returning to the boat for breakfast,
we will travel to a beautiful beach on the banks of the Rio Negro for a
relaxing swim. Finally, we set sail towards Manaus once more marking
the end of our services.
Upon arrival in Manaus, you will be transferred
by air-conditioned mini bus, to either the airport or the hotel of your
choice. |
